An Invitation to Better Health
Acupuncture has been used for millennia and is one of the most common medical modalities in the world. Acupuncture is effective in treating a variety of health conditions including pain syndromes, digestive complaints, mood disorders, chronic disease management, addiction, migraines, allergies, insomnia, fertility and more. Acupuncturists use thin, sterile disposable needles inserted shallowly into specific areas of the body to trigger the body’s innate ability to heal itself.
Chinese Medicine has a rich history in recognizing that the food we eat on a daily basis is a critical component to health and longevity. Food therapy is the medicinal application of food to prevent, manage and resolve health concerns, especially as they relate to digestion, immunity, metabolism, mood and energy levels. In this way, food therapy treats "food as medicine" and entails an educational and a mindfulness-based approach to eating for health and well-being.
Cupping is an ancient, cross-cultural healing technique which involves the placement of glass, bamboo or plastic cups on the body with a suction force. Essentially, cupping can be thought of as "reverse massage", where instead of pressure being applied to the tissues of body in a downward motion, the suction of the cupping pulls the tissues upward. Cupping is used to treat a wide variety of conditions but is especially useful to improve circulation, detoxify the body, and resolve muscle soreness and tension.
