About Food Therapy

Food therapy is the medicinal application of food to prevent, manage and resolve health concerns, especially as they relate to digestion, immunity, metabolism, mood and energy levels. In essence, food therapy is treating "food as medicine" and Western Medicine is catching up to this position.

Food therapy sessions are influenced by Chinese Medicine concepts and entail an educational and a mindfulness-based approach to selecting, preparing and eating food specific to the individual as well as addressing obstacles to changing dietary habits over time.

Food therapy sessions are applicable to anyone who:

  • Is wanting to change their eating habits but doesn't know where to start.
  • Is seeking education around the application of Chinese Medicine concepts to their food selection, preparation and consumption.
  • Is seeking guidance on a specific health concern and the application of food therapy as a tool to address the concern. Health concerns can include, but are not limited to: cancer, diabetes, auto-immune diseases, depression or anxiety, weight gain or weight loss, hormone imbalances, migraines or headaches, irritable bowel syndrome, chronic constipation or diarrhea, acid reflux and more.
